What are LARP games? How to become a better gamer

I’m sure you’ve played a lot of games in your life, but have you ever thought about what makes a game fun? Is it the graphics? The sound effects? Maybe it’s the controls or even how realistic the game feels. While these are all important components of a good game, they’re not what makes gaming so great! What really makes games fun is having the ability to develop your own character as well as explore an interesting storyline filled with twists and turns. If you want to learn more about this topic, then please read on!

Depth of character

In my opinion, the most important thing a character can have is depth. Depth of character means you have a lot of choices when it comes to customizing your character, and that each choice has an impact on the way they will play in the game.

This can be achieved through:

  • A character creation system that allows choice in personality, skills and background.
  • An appearance system that allows physical customization beyond just choosing gender or race (e.g., hair color/style/shape).
  • An ability system that allows for choice of specialization within classes rather than just picking one class at level 1; this gives players more control over how their characters grow with them over time rather than feeling like they’ve been railroaded into playing one role for four years straight because they picked something early on without knowing what else was available later on down the road (which happens frequently with MMOs). The ability system should also include options outside standard gameplay mechanics (like crafting) so players don’t get bored playing outside their comfort zone too often during long campaigns (again referring back here specifically about MMO games but also applicable broadly across all genres).
  • A good avatar needs to have some semblance of personality; otherwise they would just be hollow. In order for this principle to work properly though there must also exist some kind of mechanism through which the player’s actions affect their fictional counterpart’s behavior patterns.

Dialogue

Dialogue choices should be meaningful. This means that they have an effect on the story itself. It also means that there is more than one choice available, and all of them are valid options. When you look at dialogue as a gameplay element and not just as a way to advance the plot, it needs to actually be fun to choose. You don’t want your player being forced into making a decision because they don’t have any other option; give them meaningful choices and let them make their own decisions!

We want a game that allows us to develop our own character. We need good choices and interesting characters to keep us engaged. If you can do these things and throw in some plot hooks, you’re on your way to making an awesome RPG!
